Living in Chicago for the past two decades has proven to be an exciting experience. I have had the good fortune to live where my first view every morning is of Lake Michigan and the biking and running trail along Lake Shore Drive. My landscape changes every day as the sun appears or is covered by clouds along with calm, playful, raging or frozen lake water. Some of these changes I have captured through photographs just by being at the right place at right time.
I didn't realize that Navy Pier had a row of trees along the north side until one day a very dark sky emerged setting the end of the pier apart from the lake with a band of light that stretched across the horizon. Another time a fog rolled in. I grabbed my camera and had but a few seconds to capture the top of the Ferris wheel sticking out as the sun was peeking over the fog onto a building along the curve in the outer drive. These images of Chicago will always be some of my favorite moments.
Chicago is photographed by the best because it offers a tremendous tapestry from which to draw inspiration. I have only just begun to find my way as a photographer in this fantastic city of opportunity.
